A man has been arrested after a woman was injured in Harrogate this morning.
North Yorkshire Police today said officers responded to reports of a woman who had suffered a “minor injury” as she was walking on Cambridge Street at around 10.32am.
The force said the suspect, 36, was seen heading towards the bus station.
But witnesses directed police to the suspect and he was quickly arrested at 10.46am on Station Parade.
Officers said a “small, bladed article” was recovered following a search of the suspect.
He remains in custody for questioning, police said, adding the force believe this to be an isolated incident with “no wider threat to the public”.
The victim has since undergone medical checks.
A witness, who was in a nearby shop at the time, told the Stray Ferret she “did not see the actual incident” but could “sense something happened”. She added:
The staff in the shop were really distressed.
The force is now appealing for witnesses or for anyone with information, including video footage, to come forward:
Witnesses or anyone with information or video footage of the incident are urged to come forward to support the investigation.
