A man has been jailed for a string of offences in Harrogate and Knaresborough.
Dale Lister, who is listed under addresses in both Harrogate and Knaresborough on court documents, was sentenced for four offences at York Magistrates Court on Tuesday (August 5).
According to court documents, Lister sent a voice message that was "grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character" at an address in Knaresborough on January 15.
He denied the offence on February 20 but was later found guilty on July 10.
On the same day, Lister admitted stealing £18.85 worth of goods from The Co-op in Pannal on April 24.
He also pleaded guilty to stealing patio sets valued at £298 from Asda on Harrogate’s Bower Road. The offence happened on May 5.
The 31-year-old was also charged with failing to surrender to court bail at an appointed time, but it is not clear when he admitted this offence.
Lister was due to attend Harrogate Magistrates Court on August 1, as ordered by the magistrates on July 10, but failed to turn up without reasonable excuse.
He was jailed for a total of 15 weeks, comprising nine weeks for sending the offensive voice message, two weeks for the Co-op theft and a further four weeks for stealing the patio sets from Asda.
His guilty plea was taken into account for failing to show up at court and no separate pently was imposed for the offence.
Court documents say Lister has a flagrant disregard for court orders, people and their property, and his offending was so serious only a custodial sentence can be justified.
