North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man was seriously injured following a collision on the A1(M) near Dishforth on Saturday night (January 10).
The incident happened at around 10.45pm and involved a black Skoda Octavia that lost control as it was joining the southbound carriageway of the motorway at junction 49, about five miles north of Boroughbridge. It then crashed into the central reservation.
The two occupants of the Skoda ran off, one of them running across the northbound carriageway, where he was hit by a lorry.
He sustained serious leg injuries and was taken to hospital, where he currently remains.
The other occupant ran off into woodland, but was found a short time later and arrested in connection with the incident.
The road was closed for five hours to allow emergency services to attend to the casualty, recover the vehicle and examine the scene.
The lorry driver was uninjured.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said:
We are appealing to anyone who saw the black Skoda prior to the crash or saw the crash happen, and anyone who saw the two men running off from the scene, across either carriageway, or the incident with the lorry including any dashcam footage of any part of the incident.
