A man has been jailed after brutally attacking someone in Harrogate.
Rowan Potter, 20, was sentenced at York Crown Court last Wednesday (November 19) after pleading guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm in February.
The attack dates back to October 14, 2023, when both Potter and the victim were 18.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Potter attacked his victim near Hall End Field in Harrogate, where he repeatedly kicked and stamped on the victim.
When the victim returned home, he told his father about what had happened and was taken to Harrogate District Hospital.
The victim’s right eye socket was fractured in two places. His nose was also fractured and he sustained bruising to his face, chipped teeth and his bottom lip was “hanging off”, the CPS added.
Potter, of Hill Top Avenue in Harrogate, sent the victim a message on Snapchat later that evening saying: “you deserved it”.
Potter accepted he punched the victim, which caused him to fall over, before kicking him twice to the head and the stomach.
The defendant accepted causing the injuries in an incident he claimed lasted about 15 seconds.
Potter was ordered to spend 12 months behind bars and was made subject to a five-year restraining order.
