The petrol station at Morrisons in Starbeck is to close this Sunday for nearly two weeks following its sale to Motor Fuel Group (MFG).

MFG, which is the nation’s largest forecourt operator, recently bought 337 petrol forecourts and over 400 electric vehicle charging sites from Morrisons for £2.5 billion.

MFG has said it will being investing an initial £40 million in the Morrisons sites by October this year, improving to-go food offerings, acquiring alcohol licences where appropriate, fitting new equipment and providing services such as the National Lottery.

It also aims to install 800 electric vehicle chargers within five years.

William Bannister, CEO of MFG, said:

This is the start of our wider plans to upgrade all of the Morrisons hubs with services to fit all of our customers' evolving needs, including ultra-rapid EV charging infrastructure, food and valeting.

Our top priority has always been, and remains, our customers and the communities within which our sites are located.
