A motorcyclist is in serious condition following a crash near Harrogate last night.
North Yorkshire Police today said the incident, which happened at the junction with Burley Bank Road on the A59 at Hampsthwaite, occurred at 7.50pm.
The force said a red motorcycle and a John Deere tractor were involved, adding:
The motorcyclist conducted an overtake of a vehicle and collided with the tractor.
Following the incident the motorcyclist was taken to hospital where he is currently in a serious condition.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance service was also called to scene and transported the motorcyclist to Leeds General Infirmary.
The tractor driver was not injured and remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries, officers said.
Police closed a section of the A59 for several hours at the time to allow investigation work to be carried out.
They are now appealing for witnesses and information to assist with their investigation:
