Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man in his 50s was found in Harrogate last night (September 29).
North Yorkshire Police said in a statement this afternoon an incident was reported at a flat on Strawberry Dale just before 11pm last night.
The statement added officers discovered the body at the scene. He was certified dead at the scene by paramedics.
Two men, aged 26 and 34, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Another man in his 40s has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All three currently remain in police custody.
Police said enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing, adding they are in the process of notifying the Independent Office for Police Conduct following previous police contact with the deceased.
The force said this was “standard procedure”.
Senior investigating officer, detective superintendent Jonathon Sygrove, added to today’s statement:
