A flexible volunteering initiative designed to make it easier for Ripon residents to support their community is being launched next week.
Help Out Ripon connects people with one-off volunteering opportunities, helping charities and community groups get the extra hands they need while enabling volunteers to contribute in ways that fit around busy lives.
Projects could include helping at local fundraising events, supporting community activities or offering skills for one off tasks, each making a real difference without requiring ongoing time commitment.
Harrogate & District Community Action is behind the initiative, which builds on the success of its Help Out Harrogate project.
It has organised an informal coffee and chat event at the Claro Lounge on the Market Place in Ripon where people can find out more. It will take place on Thursday, November 13 from 10am to 11.30am.
Lizzie Hughes, HADCA development manager, said:
We know that many people want to give something back to their community but find that the idea of a long-term or regular volunteering commitment feels too much. Help Out Ripon offers a flexible way to make a difference – you dip in when you can but still contribute to your local community in a meaningful way. We’re excited to bring this model to Ripon and help strengthen the local voluntary sector with fresh support.
For charities and community groups, even a small amount of support can be transformational.
