A café located in Ripon Spa Gardens is under new ownership.
The former Sun Parlour Café is set to become a permanent location for Ripon-based street food business Squid and Tonic.
The company, which currently cooks and serves food from a vintage horsebox, announced the news on social media at the end of May.
Owners Carol Williams, Paul Page and Jane Aksut took to social media yesterday (June 12) to add they now have the keys for the building and will spend the next two weeks adding a “bit of Squid and Tonic magic to the lovely café”.
Mr Page today told the Stray Ferret the new site, which will be called Café in the Park, will serve "traditional café food with a high-quality twist".
There will be deli boards, open sandwiches, fresh salads, afternoon tea and cakes on offer, he added.
Mr Page added he is "ecstatic" about opening:
I just can't wait now. We've been blown away by the support for Squid and Tonic.
We're opening the site off the back of the success of the horsebox. We're humble people running a family business and we're not looking to take over the world, but instead to bring a successful business to the area and really integrate ourselves into the community.
Before, some people said they would struggle to visit us at the horsebox if events were fully booked or they weren't in the area. Now, we've got a base that people can always come to.
There will also be a huge focus on using local produce.
Mr Page added the original horsebox will continue to operate next to the café and at events around the district, serving pizzas, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and cakes.
Café in the Park will be open daily from 8am to 4pm. The official opening day will be June 26.
The horsebox will also open daily from 8am to 2pm.
