Superintendent Andrew Berriman pictured in 2024.

A North Yorkshire Police officer accused of dishonesty will face a misconduct hearing next month.

A notice of the hearing alleges superintendent Andrew Berriman failed to declare a conflict of interest and acted dishonestly in his post.

The notice says:

Being a superintendent with North Yorkshire Police, you failed to declare a conflict of interest when you agreed to be a grievance manager, for a grievance submitted by a detective chief inspector.

Being a superintendent with North Yorkshire Police, you told the above mentioned DCI, that you “had no allegiances with anyone in North Yorkshire Police” when this was dishonest and did not reflect the association with a (former) deputy chief constable who had been named in the grievance.

The force alleges in doing so, Supt Berriman breached the standards of professional behaviour for honesty and integrity; authority, respect and courtesy; duties and responsibilities, and discreditable conduct.

Police say if the allegations are proven, his actions amount to gross misconduct.

The public hearing will be held at the force’s Alverton Court headquarters in Northallerton between March 3 and 6.
