Northern Powergrid has said it is due to begin essential electrical works in Harrogate town centre next week.
Work will begin on Monday (August 5) and continue until Friday, August 9 in a bid to reduce “unplanned power cuts” in the town centre.
James Street will be dug up and work will also take place outside properties on Princes Street.
The Stray Ferret has frequently reported on intermittent power cuts in the area this year.
A week of power outages in March and further issues in May forced some shops and bakeries to close while an emergency dentist was unable to treat patients on more than one occasion.

A spokesperson for Northern Powergrid said:
From August 5, Northern Powergrid will be working on James Street, Princes Street and the surrounding areas for five days to upgrade its network and reduce the likelihood of unplanned interruptions.
There are no plans to turn off anyone’s electricity supply, and we do not expect to need access to any properties. We will minimise disruption by working with all stakeholders to ensure the work is delivered as safely and smoothly as possible throughout.
