A plan to convert a former Kirkby Overblow pub into a community facility has been approved.
The Star and Garter closed its doors in 2018 and has been disused ever since.
Kirkby Overblow Community Hub lodged plans to convert the former public house on Follifoot Lane last year.
Now, North Yorkshire Council has given the plan the go-ahead.
Under the proposals, the building will be changed into a village facility with the potential for bedrooms to be let out.
Kirkby Overblow Community Hub, which is a registered charity, was set up with the aim of purchasing the former Star and Garter pub to “protect the site for future generations”.
According to its website, the organisation wants to repair and renovate the building and provide a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor areas for use for youth clubs, private parties, village heritage and exhibition space for arts & crafts.
It adds that aim is to repair and renovate the building to "protect the site for future generations".
