Plan to convert Killinghall field into dog walking area
Plans have been submitted to convert a field near Killinghall into a dog park.
Parks for Pups, which is based in Northamptonshire, has lodged the proposal to North Yorkshire Council for land west of Otley Road.
According to planning documents, the move would see a secure dog walking field enclosed by fencing created.
The developer said the proposal represented a “low intensity rural enterprise” which would help to meet demand for dog walking areas.
It said:
The proposal will provide a valuable recreational facility meeting increasing demand for safe and secure dog exercise, particularly for dogs with poor recall, reactive and dogs with behavioural issues.
The development has been designed to minimise visual impact, protect existing landscape features and operate in harmony with its rural surroundings.
The site would cover 3.5 acres and see a 1.8 metre high fence installed, according to planning documents.
The field would be operated on a pre-booking basis and would be open all year round.
A planning statement added:
The site will be open all year round, with weekday opening from 7am-8pm or sunrise to sunset whichever is later, with weekend opening from 8am-8pm or sunset whichever is later.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on the plan at a later date.
