Work is progressing well on the reinstatement of a popular riverside path in Ripon that has been closed since April to protect the public.
Contractors appointed by North Yorkshire Council anticipate the affected area of path between Borrage Green Lane and High Cleugh will be ready to reopen by the end of July.
This has been welcomed by Councillor Andrew Williams, who represents the Minster and Moorside division of Ripon on North Yorkshire Council.
He told the Stray Ferret:
This riverside route along the bank of the Skell is very popular with walkers, dog walkers, nature lovers and families and I have been contacted by dozens of residents who wanted to know when the repair works would be completed.
With schools breaking up for the summer holidays on Friday, it's good to know that people won't have too long to wait before the full length of path is back open again.
The path was fenced off in April after parts of it were undercut and collapsed into the river, which was running higher and faster than usual because of heavy springtime rainfall.
