A Ripon tap room and bottle shop is set to undergo a change in ownership.

The Portly Pig, which opened on Kirkgate in September 2023, was the vision of husband-and-wife team Adam and Katrina Coulson.

The bar has since become a favourite for real ales and craft beers.

But the Coulsons have found balancing life with a business and a baby challenging, and from November 12 the bar will be in the hands of Stuart and Katie Ross.

The venue shared a post on social media announcing the change in ownership.

In the statement, Adam and Katrina Coulson said:

We've had a blast over the past year but with the arrival of little Harry, it was always going to be difficult to continue in the same manner.

We would like to thank all those who have joined us for a drink since opening and to our special group of regulars who we will dearly miss... most of them anyway!

We look forward to seeing what Stuart and Katie do with the place and wish them every success. We'll be back for a pint on the other side of the bar shortly.

Stuart and Katie Ross said:

We are both thrilled to be taking ownership of the Portly Pig, we have seen the amazing job that Adam and Katrina have done over the past 12 months and can't wait to get started.

We look forward to meeting you all. We look forward to meeting you all on Tuesday 12th November.
