A Ripon man has been given a suspended prison sentence for threatening to kill another man.
Robert Kondys, of Westgate, pleaded guilty to one count of making threats to kill and one count of assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm at a hearing in September last year.
The hearing at Harrogate Magistrates Court heard that Kondys punched a named woman in the head following an argument at a property on High Skellgate in Ripon.
The woman fell to the floor and, while she was on the floor, the defendant proceeded to further punch and kick her, which caused a cut to her ear.
Kondys. 55. also called the woman a “b****” and a “slag”, the court heard.
The second victim, a named man, was at the property at the time of the assault on August 1.
The man was too scared to intervene, magistrates heard, but Kondys “turned on him”.
The defendant told the man:
You son of a b****, I will kill you.
Kondys appeared for sentence at Harrogate Magistrates Court on Friday (January 30).
Magistrates imposed a 32-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months. Kondys was also ordered to wear an alcohol abstinence tag for 60 days.
He was also ordered to pay a victims’ surcharge of £187 and court costs of £85.
