A minor injuries unit at Ripon Community Hospital is set to become an urgent treatment centre.
Urgent treatment centres cater for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries that require urgent attention but are not emergencies.
The move will also see the centre offer extended hours, opening from 8am to 8pm seven days a week.
Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, confirmed that the new opening hours and services will come into affect from this month.
The urgent treatment centre will be able to help with complaints such as stomach pain, high temperatures and mental health concerns.
The centre will function from the current unit at Ripon Community Hospital, but the trust said it has plans for a new facility within the hospital from next year.
Sir Julian Smith, Conservative MP for Skipton and Ripon, said:
This is great news for Ripon. The MIU is a valued local service, and I am pleased it will now be able to help with a wider range of health concerns while staying open longer each day. I am grateful to the team at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust for their work on this upgrade.
