Two local women have launched a free online platform to help small business owners.

Ripon-based Rosie McGilvray and Sue Turmel launched The Networker to simplify the way UK entrepreneurs connect, network and access funding opportunities.

The idea was born from a shared frustration.

Ms Turmel said:

We both realised there was no single, accessible resource for small businesses to find networking events — whether in-person or online — or to navigate the complex world of business funding.

The platform, which soft launched last month, allows users to search for networking groups, register for events, and explore funding options.

Event organisers can list their meetings, conferences, or exhibitions for free and business owners can follow guides to grants and loans.

Ms McGilvray said:

We couldn’t believe there wasn’t one website that listed all the networking events in the UK. So, we decided to create one.

We wanted to take the guesswork out of networking and funding.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but they often struggle to find the resources they need to grow. Our goal is to give them an accessible tool that empowers them to succeed.
