A 19-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle along a main road to Pateley Bridge in the early hours of this morning (July 20).
North Yorkshire Police said in a statement this afternoon the teenager, who was described as “local”, is believed to have been walking from Pateley Bridge to Glasshouses.
He died sometime between 1.44am and 3.10am.
The statement appealed to anyone who was driving in the area at the time to get in touch.
It said:
We’re very sad to share that a 19-year-old local man has died following a collision on the B6265 at Ripley Bank, between Glasshouses and Pateley Bridge, in the early hours of this morning.
The incident happened sometime between 1.44am and 3.10am.
The man, who we believe was walking from Pateley Bridge towards Glasshouses, was sadly found deceased at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
We are now appealing for anyone who was driving in the area at the time to come forward and support our investigation.
The statement urged anyone with dash-cam footage, or who has CCTV or doorbell camera footage showing any vehicles passing between 1.44am and 3.10am, to get in touch.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to respond at the scene, but it has now reopened.
