Two teenagers have been arrested in Knaresborough after an attempted theft of a car.
North Yorkshire Police said officers were called to the town at 2.52am this morning (March 24) after a member of the public reported someone trying to break into their car.
Officers in the area carried out a short search on foot and by 3.04am had arrested two teenagers wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.
The pair, a 16-year-old and 18-year-old, were arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a vehicle and going equipped for theft.
A force statement added:
Officers seized the balaclavas and gloves they were wearing along with a screwdriver and other items suspected as being used for car theft.
The two teenagers remain in police custody at the time of writing. Ref: 12250051690.
