As temperatures soar in Ripon, families seeking a cooling free dip for their children will have to wait until a paddling pool is repaired.
The pool at the Borrage Green children's play area has been temporarily closed to protect public safety, but North Yorkshire Council hopes to have it fixed by the end of this week.
The pool, which is popular with families, was drained after parents reported that paint covering its concrete surface had started peeling off.
North Yorkshire Council workers have been on site since Tuesday (June 24) using a concrete sander to remove the blue paint.
The concrete needs to be sealed and repainted before the pool can be refilled and brought back into use.
A post on Ripon City Council’s Facebook page, said North Yorkshire Council had advised it hopes to reopen the pool by the end of the week.
