When the Stray Ferret reported on North Yorkshire Council’s plans to restrict the use of its recycling centres, there was something of a backlash on social media.
One comment labelled the council “incompetent”, while another called the proposal “professional idiocy”. One person suggested the proposal was “a great way to increase fly tipping”.
A business owner also commented that his business would be affected by the changes, as he uses the sites “4/5 times a day”. The proposed plans would limit commercial vehicle users to 12 visits per year, charging them a licence fee if they needed to use the service more frequently.
We visited Harrogate town centre this week to see what the public thought about these changes, and had a mixed response.
