Wickes announces Harrogate opening and new local jobs
Wickes has given the Stray Ferret more details about its new store, which is set to open in Harrogate.
The DIY company is converting the former showroom of Magnet Kitchens, on Ripon Road.
While an exact opening date is yet to be confirmed, the company said it will be ‘early October’.
Wickes also revealed the store will have around 25 employees, with these positions to be hired from the local community.
A spokesperson added:
Harrogate will be our first true small-format pioneer store, featuring a 10,700 sq. ft. unit. We will still offer every category found in a traditional store.
We will provide a full design and installation service, paint mixing, and a solar offering. Click and collect and home deliveries will also be available.
Wickes is the UK’s second-largest home improvement retailer behind B&Q, which has a store half a mile away at Oak Beck Retail Park.
Wickes' nearest stores are currently in Leeds, York and Shipley.
Magnet has moved to new premises on Albert Street, which are due to open on August 25.
