A woman has been accused of arson following a house fire in Boroughbridge on Thursday night (May 15).
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said five fire crews were called the blaze on Springfield Grove shortly before 11pm.
The flames destroyed the bungalow and damaged two other nearby houses.
Firefighters used 12 breathing apparatus, six hoses, small tools and thermal imaging to extinguish the fire, but a fire investigation on Friday (May 16) established the blaze had been started deliberately.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed this, but added nobody was inside the house during the fire.
Police launched an investigation on Friday and appealed for information that may assist them.
In an update today (May 18), the force said a 34-year-old woman was arrested last night (Saturday) and has been charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.
She has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at York Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (May 19).
