A fashion brand promoted by celebrities including Davina McCall, Alison Hammond and Kate Lawler is to open a shop in Harrogate town centre next month.

Womenwear retailer Scamp & Dude will open its first permanent location in the north of England on James Street – in the corner unit vacated by Castle Fine Art. The company also has shops Battersea, Brighton and Buckinghamshire.

Set across two floors and over 2,100 sq ft of retail space, the new shop will sell Scamp & Dude's full collection of clothes and, according to the press release announcing its arrival, "bring its distinctive community-led retail experience, along with its year-round programme of events and activations to Yorkshire".

At the heart of Scamp & Dude's shop is its so-called Bolt Room, a large private fitting-room experience. The Scamp & Dude community can book the space in advance to try on the latest collections together in a relaxed environment, with complimentary refreshments.

Celebrities including Kate Lawler, Davina McCall and Alison Hammond have promoted Scamp & Dude.

Scamp & Dude was founded in 2016 by Jo Tutchener-Sharp; its name comes from her nicknames for her two children. Since then, she has been awarded an OBE and the company has been awarded B Corp status, which indicates a high standard of social and environmental performance.

Ms Tutchener-Sharp said:

We've wanted a store in Harrogate for such a long time‚ it's taken us over three years to find the perfect spot, so it's long overdue, and celebrating our 10th anniversary this year makes the moment even more special.

Harrogate is a real gem, and it feels only right that this becomes our permanent home in the North. So many of our community already live nearby, and we know the town has so much to offer those who'll travel that little bit further to find us too.

The store will bring the very best of our product and experience, and we simply cannot wait to welcome our northern community through the doors.

Over the last decade, Scamp & Dude has become known for its charitable campaigns, and has donated more than £4.4 million in cash and product donations. Its SuperScarfMission initiative donated more than 93,000 "super scarves" to women starting chemotherapy – one for every scarf sold.

The brand has also donated more than 10,000 softtoys – 'Superhero Sleep Buddies' – to children who have lost a parent or are seriously ill themselves.
