A yellow weather warning has been issued for the Harrogate district this weekend.
The weather forecast includes thunder storms and heavy rain tomorrow, and the weather warning lasts from 9am until midnight.
Issued by the Met Office, it warns of possible dangers caused by flash-flooding resulting from heavy downpours.
It says:
“Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
“Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life.
“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services. Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
“Some communities might become cut off if roads flood. Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.”

Hosepipe ban to remain despite heavy rain across Harrogate district
The hosepipe ban across the Harrogate district will remain in place despite today’s heavy rainfall.
Yorkshire Water confirmed it will keep the ban in order to help refill its reservoirs ready for dry weather in spring and summer next year.
A spokesperson for the company said:
“Although we have had some rainfall recently, reservoir levels are still significantly below where we would expect for this time of year and are only around half full.
“Winter is the best chance our reservoirs have to refill and be ready for the warmer and drier months in spring and summer next year.
“We’re grateful to our customers who have been saving water where they can this summer, it’s important that we all continue to do so over winter too. Our teams are out 24/7 fixing leaks and moving water around the region to where it’s needed.
“The hosepipe ban is still in place to help protect the environment and give our reservoirs the best possible chance at returning to healthy levels.”
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy rain across the district today and into tomorrow morning, saying there is the possibility of localised flooding.

Harrogate theatre roof repairs could be finished this monthThe longstanding roof repairs at Harrogate Theatre could be finished this month, it was announced today after another performance was cancelled due to a leak at the weekend.
The final performance of Kinky Boots, by Harrogate Operatic Players, was cancelled at late notice on Saturday night after a backstage leak raised concerns about the electrics.
The decision, taken on safety grounds after a day of heavy rain, disappointed both performers and audience alike.
Some audience members had already taken their seats so the cast chose to perform a few numbers from the award-winning musical with just the house lights on.

Work to replace the roof has been taking place since May.
It is not the first time a performance has been cancelled due to a leak since the roof repairs began. The recent pantomime season was also affected.

Work to replace the 121-year old Victorian theatre roof began in May. It was due to finish in September but this was put back to March.
David Bown, chief executive of the theatre, said today it could be finished this month if there are no further incidents. He said:
Overnight warning for heavy rain across the district“The last time I spoke to the contractors they were ahead of schedule, it could even be the end of this month. The area that was leaking was backstage and that has been repaired.
We’d only cancel a show if absolutely necessary but the safety of everyone in the theatre had to take priority.”
A yellow weather warning for heavy rain is in place across the district from the early hours of the tomorrow morning.
Following a wet weekend, the Met Office has put a yellow weather warning across North West England.
The warning means heavy and persistent rain is forecast from 2am tomorrow morning.
This level of warning could mean a “few homes and business are flooded” and predicts travel delays due to potential flooding on the roads.
The warning will be in place until 23.59 on Tuesday evening.
The Met Office yellow weather warning is in place from Newcastle to Yorkshire and as far south as Norwich.
There are currently no flood warnings or alerts in place.
