Firefighters from Ripon rescued a baby that was locked inside a car in the city yesterday.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report for last night said firefighters were called to Rotary Way at 6pm.
Rotary Way is a short distance from Ripon Fire Station’s site on Stonebridgegate and is the location of St Michael’s Retail Park, which includes M&S Simply Food.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are not revealed in detail.
The incident log added:
“Crews used small tools also with the assistance of a civilian mechanic at the scene.
“The baby was left in the hands of parents, advice given.”

Firefighters tackle microwave fire and chimney fire in Harrogate district
Firefighters were called to separate incidents involving a microwave fire and a chimney fire in the Harrogate district this afternoon.
Crews from Boroughbridge and Ripon responded to reports of a kitchen fire at Southolme Walk in Boroughbridge at 1.48pm.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident log said it turned out to be “a small fire confined within a microwave which was out upon our arrival”, adding:
“Crews assisted the occupant to ventilate the kitchen of light smoke logging.”
Shortly afterwards, at 2.53pm, Ripon firefighters were back on the road again to respond to reports o a chimney fire at Bouthwaite, near Pateley Bridge.
The incident log said:
“They extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet and chimney rods. The cause was an accumulation of soot. Advice was given to the occupier.”

Ripon firefighters save pony stuck in mud
Ripon firefighters helped to a free a pony that got stuck in the mud this week.
The pony, called Monarch, was unable to get up after lying in mud at the side of a small stream.
He panicked and soon became exhausted.

The owner called for help from a vet, who summoned the assistance of fire crews from Ripon, Malton and Richmond.
The vet sedated Monarch and the firefighters were eventually able to free him from the stream in Ravensworth, Richmondshire.

Swale Veterinary Surgery, whose vet Lesley responded to the incident, posted on its Facebook page:
“Amazingly Monarch had no severe injuries and was just a bit sore and stiff after the ordeal.
“Amazing work Lesley and a massive thank you to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for helping get Monarch out safely.”
