The Harrogate district is braced for thunderstorms this week after a yellow weather warning was issued.
The Met Office has warned that the UK will face “hit and miss” storms today.
A yellow weather warning is in place for the whole of England and Scotland on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The warning says that thunderstorms are likely to develop throughout the day, with torrential downpours in some areas and “potential disruption”.

The Harrogate district is forecast light showers this afternoon with more rain on Tuesday.
It comes after a heatwave lasting several days, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees.
Yorkshire Water announced a hosepipe ban for the county last week amid some parts of England declaring a drought. The ban will come into force on Friday, August 26.

Harrogate district on flood alert as Met Office issues storm warning
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in the Harrogate district, which could lead to flooding.
Following weeks of warm weather in the UK, storms are expected to affect the district from 9am tomorrow until 6am on Wednesday.
A Met Office yellow weather warning is in place from Newcastle to Yorkshire and as far south as Birmingham.

The Met Office said in a statement:
Emergency flood response underway in Harrogate district“Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and possibly some road closures.
“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater or lightning strikes.”
An emergency response is underway at homes in the Harrogate district in danger of flooding after today’s thunderstorms.
The emergency planning department at Harrogate Borough Council revealed tonight it had been called to homes in Pannal and Dishforth following today’s heavy rain.
The council’s emergency planning department supports the emergency services in the response to major incidents.
It said on Twitter:
“Our team have deployed to Dishforth this evening to protect a property at risk of foul water flooding and are currently working with our North Yorkshire County Council colleagues to protect another property in Pannal from surface water flooding.”
No further details are available at this time.
A Met Office yellow weather warning is in place in the Harrogate district until midnight tonight. The warning says:
“Heavy showers and thunderstorms leading to a chance of flooding and disruption.
“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.”
