A new sun bed salon has opened its doors in Jennyfields.

Coco Tanning and Beauty welcomed its first customers yesterday, in what was one of three empty units on the Jennyfield Drive site.

The company took to social media to announce the opening, adding it has “two Megasun lay-downs” and “two Hapro stand up” sun beds on offer.

The Jennyfields salon is the fourth addition to Coco Tanning and Beauty’s Harrogate portfolio, with other salons on Leeds Road, Knaresborough Road and Valley Drive.

As well as sun bed services, it also offers traditional beauty treatments including manicures, spray tans, eyebrow lamination and eyelash extensions.

The company added the new salon has opened for “sun beds only”, but did not say whether beauty treatments will also be introduced there.

The Stray Ferret approached Coco Tanning and Beauty for more information on the Jennyfields site, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

The opening follows a period of uncertainty at the Jennyfield Drive site, where three out of four retail units and the Stone Beck pub were formerly closed.

The Stray Ferret reported the closure of Boots pharmacy inside the Co-op late last year, which sparked concerns over the future of retail in the area.

Freda Roach, a nearby resident, said at the time the closure was a “great blow to the local community”.

However, with the new salon and the recent re-opening of the Stone Beck pub, things look to be on the up for Jennyfields.
