A woman was taken to hospital after suffering seizures and smoke inhalation at a house fire in Starbeck last night.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue incident summary said crews from Harrogate, Ripon and Knaresborough were called out at 10.24pm last night.

Firefighters responded to a blaze in the living room of a three-storey residential property, the log said, adding:

“One female was transported to hospital via road ambulance suffering smoke inhalation and seizures.
“Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated using 8 sets of breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels, a positive pressure ventilation fan and lighting.”

A witness told the Stray Ferret smoke was “billowing from a terrace house" on The Avenue, near the junction with Harrison Grove.

No further details, including the cause of the fire, have been revealed.
