Neuhaus Belgian Chocolate is set to open a store on James Street in Harrogate next month.

The luxury chocolatier was established in 1857 and has stores in 50 countries, including five in London.

The Harrogate shop is set to be the first UK stores outside of London.

Work has begun to convert the unit previously occupied by women’s footwear business Carl Scarpa.

The store will rival Hotel Chocolat, which opened on James Street in 2021. The new shop will sell chocolates and gifts ranging from £3 to over £100.

The first Neuhaus store opened in 1912 located in Brussels’ Galerie de la Reine, and it  was there Belgian praline was invented.
