A series of free cycling workshops to boost bike confidence will be available in Harrogate next month.

The workshops, which are aimed at anyone hoping to cycle more in spring, are being coordinated by Kate Auld, founder of The Personal Cyclist and one of Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling 2023.

She has teamed up with a group of Harrogate fitness organisations including Brimhams Active and local bike charity Resurrection Bikes.

Kate said:

“Being more active or trying something new at thing time of year can be daunting, so we’ve come together to support everyone indoors and out of their comfort zone to feel more confident about getting back on the bike come spring, in a really social, friendly way.”

The events will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Tour De France departing from Harrogate in 2014.

Kate continued:

“We’re already seeing strong interest from companies and individuals across the UK who are keen to come to Harrogate for some civilised cycling this summer and on a local level we want to help everyone rediscover the joy of cycling, even if it’s indoors in February.”

Sessions will begin on Saturday, February 10 at 9am with a free spin taster class run by the founder of North Studio, followed by an outdoor bike Q&A with Kate at Prologue Cycling.

There will be a block of three Sunday morning 'Pedalates' sessions at Move Physio on February 11, 18 and 25 February at 9.30am. The sessions will be led by pilates coach Liv Metcalfe.

Liv said:

“Alignment, core awareness and quality movements will be at the heart of this special progressive block for anyone who wants to strengthen, lengthen and improve performance, on or off the bike.”

February 26 will see two spin and social sessions at the Brimhams Active-operated Harrogate Leisure and Wellness Centre, followed by an outdoor bike Q&A with Kate at 5.30pm and 7pm.

An Autumn workshop by the Personal Cyclist at Sweaty Betty

On March 2, 2-4pm Resurrection Bikes will be hosting The Bike Doctor Will See You Now, a pre-booked 20-minute appointment to get your bike checked over for spring. To book, contact John at info@resurrectionbikes.org.uk

For more information or to book events contact thepersonalcyclist@gmail.com. Places are limited and operate on a first come, first served basis.
