Fish and chip restaurant Graveleys of Harrogate looks set to be acquired by another local firm, the Stray Ferret understands.
The family-run business was listed for sale for £195,000 in October – just eight months after reopening.
The Stray Ferret has been informed by a source that the shop on Cheltenham Parade is expected to be taken over by Bradleys.
Bradleys already operates fish and chip shops on Starbeck High Street and in Northallerton and Scarborough.
The Stray Ferret contacted Graveleys and Bradleys about the sale, but did not receive a response from either by the time of publication.
Bradleys in Starbeck
Catch Seafood bought the site off Graveleys in 2019 and spent £250,000 refurbishing the premises with features including a champagne and oyster bar.
However, all five Catch restaurants fell into administration in 2022, which paved the way for Simon Pilkington, the son of former Graveleys owner Robert, to return a year ago.
On re-opening day, Mr Pilkington told the Stray Ferret it was “great to be back” and said his father would have been “elated” to see it was up-and-running again.
Graveleys forged a reputation as Harrogate’s best-known fish and chip shop, and its return was both popular and surprising.
Bradleys currently offers fish and chips for £7.50. It also offers scampi, veggie burgers and other chip shop standards, including battered sausage, chicken nuggets and mushy peas.
