The case of a former Harrogate councillor accused of posting antisemitic social media posts has been adjourned.
Pat Marsh, 77, was charged last month with distributing written material to stir up racial hatred.
Ms Marsh, who served as a local councillor for more than three decades, was due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates Court today (November 6).
But the case was adjourned for legal reasons and transferred to York Magistrates Court, where Ms Marsh is due to appear on November 19.
She did not attend today’s hearing.
Ms Marsh is alleged to have published or distributed posts on X, formerly Twitter, which were threatening, abusive or insulting on at least five occasions between January 21 and February 19, 2024.
It is claimed Ms Marsh, of Harrogate Road, Knaresborough, intended to stir up racial hatred or racial hatred was likely to be stirred up.
Ms Marsh was for many years the leader of the Harrogate and Knaresborough Liberal Democrats, and represented the Stray, Woodlands and Hookstone ward on North Yorkshire Council.
She resigned as a councillor in February 2024.
