A Harrogate jeweller's is set to extend into a neighbouring unit.
Brown’s Family Jewellers is extending its existing shop into the former EE shop on the corner of Cambridge Street and Beulah Street.
The EE store closed earlier this year after it moved further along the street.
Brown’s Family Jewellers is an established pawnbroker and the shop stocks watches and fine jewellery.
The company has nine shops across Yorkshire and has been in Harrogate for over a decade.
Catherine Jackson, manager at Brown’s Family Jewellers Harrogate, told the Stray Ferret the firm hopes to open the extension in time for the festive period.
She said:
We are hoping to open before the Christmas fayre. We are on the last push now – it has been in the works since summer.
We have been here 11 years and early on we wanted more space and the business is growing, so now seemed like the right time.
The shop will now have two entrances, the original on Beulah Street and a new one facing Cambridge Street.
The firm has employed three more staff to work in the larger shop and it will have some new stock currently only available on the website.
Ms Jackson said they will have a new seated area and have some “gift-oriented stock” that they currently lack the space for.
She added:
We are looking forward to it finally opening. We are quite unique in Harrogate because we deal pre-owned and antique items and are known for the pawnbrokers, whereas some jewellers only deal in new items.
