A Met Office amber warning for wind is in place across the Harrogate district due to Storm Éowyn. Gusts could reach 70mph in some parts of the district.

Local attractions have already announced closures and public transport is disrupted.

10.35 - Airport issues update 

Leeds Bradford Airport has just issued a statement within the last few minutes. 

It said flight schedules are experiencing some disruption and will be subject to change short notice due to the weather. 

Flights to and from Belfast International, Belfast City and Dublin have been cancelled, the statement said. 

It added:

"Jet2 has already contacted customers on the following departures which are delayed until this afternoon:

"07:45 Antalya LS213

"09:45 Arrecife LS415

"10:40 Tenerife South LS243

"Customers are advised to check with their airline for the most up-to-date information regarding their flight before travelling to the airport."

10.06 - 14,000 homes affected, says Northern Powergrid

Northern Powergrid, which distributes power in north-east England, Yorkshire and north Lincolnshire, says 14,000 homes have suffered disruption to their power supply.

It said in a statement at 9.54am:

It advised anyone affected by a power cut to report it at northernpowergrid.com or by calling 105.

9.17 - Ripon bypass clear

The A61 Ripon bypass remains clear this morning following reports of a tree down.

The Stray Ferret received reports that a tree was down near to ATS Tyres. However, the road appears to be clear.

9.06 - Advice for train passengers

Northern has published advice for passengers who were due to travel today.

The company, which operates trains on the Harrogate line, has reduced services today and warned against travel due to the forecast strong winds. However, customers can can a full refund if they decide not to travel.

8.45 - A recap of the morning

The Stray Ferret has been updating this live blog since before 7am.

• Local attractions have closed for the day, including Fountains Abbey and RHS Garden Harlow Carr. 
• A lot of flights between Leeds Bradford, Dublin and Belfast City have been cancelled. 
• Trains are severely disrupted between York, Knaresborough, Harrogate and Leeds.
• LNER services between Harrogate and London King's Cross have been heavily impacted. Services seem to be starting at Leeds instead of Harrogate. 
• A tree came down on Weeton Lane early this morning. 
• The opening of Mint Garth play area in Knaresborough has been postponed due to the wind.

8.37 - Gusts still to pick up

The storm is certainly having an impact on the district, but the strongest gusts are yet to come according to Met Office. 

Below is the current picture in Harrogate. 

8.32 - Knaresborough play area opening delayed

Mint Garth play area in Knaresborough was set to officially open today. However, due to the strong winds, Knaresborough Town Council has postponed the opening. 

A new date has not yet been announced. 

8.10 - Severe disruption to Harrogate trains

As the Stray Ferret reported earlier, local trains have been disrupted by the weather. 

Nothern has said services between York, Knaresborough, Harrogate and Leeds are severely disrupted. 28 trains across the service have been cancelled. 

8.03 - Gusts nearing 65mph at Greenhow Hill

According to Met Office, gusts are already nearing 65mph at Greenhow Hill - the highest point in the district. 

The forecast says winds will reach around 46mph up there today, with gusts pushing 70mph. 

7.57 - No disruption to buses

It appears as though local buses are running as normal. 

Harrogate Bus Company has not issued any statements about disruption or cancellations. 

7.30 - Travel recap 

Here is a brief recap of this morning's travel disruption. You can read more about it as you scroll down this blog.

• Some trains between Leeds and Harrogate, as well as Harrogate and York, have already been cancelled.
• Northern has strongly advised against travelling today, including on services between Harrogate and Leeds.
• LNER services from Harrogate to London King's Cross have been impacted and some will now start at Leeds instead. LNER also advised people not to travel north of York today. 

7.22 - No reported power cuts

According to Northern Powegrid, no power cuts have been reported across the district this morning. 

If you do experience a power cut, Northern Powergrid has urged people to report it when possible

7.09 - Flights to Ireland and Northern Ireland cancelled

Met Office also issued a rare red weather warning across Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland. 

A lot of flights between Leeds Bradford, Dublin and Belfast City look to be cancelled. 

7.03 - Tree down in Weeton

A tree has come down near the cricket pitch on Weeton Lane.

6.55 - Weather could cause disruption to flights, airport says 

Leeds Bradford Airport issued a statement yesterday ahead of today's storm. It said:

"The Met Office has issued a weather warning for Northern England, with Storm Éowyn expected to bring strong winds on Friday 24 January.

"These weather conditions may cause some disruption to flights due to arrive and depart from LBA.

"We want to advise our customers to check with their airline for the most up-to-date information regarding their flight before travelling to the airport."

The airport has not provided an update since but we will let you know if it does.

6.49 - More train disruption

Storm Éowyn is also causing chaos on LNER services. LNER operates trains from Harrogate to London King's Cross. 

Trains are being cancelled and some will no longer depart from Harrogate. The 07:37 service from Harrogate to London King's Cross will start at Leeds.

LNER issued a statement earlier this week urging people not to travel to and from stations north of York. In an update yesterday, it said:

"There will be no trains operating north of Newcastle in either direction on Friday 24 January and no LNER services operating within Scotland. Services north of York will also be subject to short-notice cancellation and significant delay due to weather-related speed restrictions. Where trains are cancelled or routes are closed, we will be unable to provide road transport due to the expected severity of the weather.

"As a result, we are advising customers not to travel to and from stations north of York on Friday 24 January."

6.45 - Northern Rail 'strongly advises' against travel

Northern Rail, which operates trains between York, Harrogate, Leeds and Knaresborough, has strongly advised people not to travel today. 

Northern urged people not to travel on services between Leeds and Harrogate. It said there would be "large gaps" in the service or it would only be "partially serviced"

"We strongly advise you do not travel on these routes", Northern said.

6.43 - Local attractions close

As the Stray Ferret reported yesterday, the storm is already causing disruption across the district. 

The National Trust has announced its sites at Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey will be closed all day. The deer park and Studley Tea Room will also be closed.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr issued a statement on social media, which said the garden will be closed all day. The inside part of the garden centre and Bettys will be open as usual, but visitors are advised to check social media and the website for updates.
