A Harrogate mother has said nighttime roadworks in a residential area are preventing people from sleeping.
The Stray Ferret reported last week that work was due to take place in the Tower Street and Belford Road area between 7pm and midnight for 14 nights.
But Sally Evans, who lives on Belford Road, said noise was continuing until 1.30am.
Ms Evans said this week:
They’re making so much noise, and the machinery has such bright lights that we can’t get to sleep. It’s been so bad that our house has been vibrating.
I’ve got two kids, and the noise is keeping them up too. We’re all going into work or school absolutely knackered.
Ms Evans said she had contacted North Yorkshire Council, but has had no response as of yet. She also said she had sent an email to Tom Gordon, the Liberal Democrat MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough.
Asked what she would like to see done, she said:
I think they should do it during daylight hours. They need to be more responsible and think of the residents they’re affecting.
We have contacted the council for comment.
