A developer has lodged plans to convert the upper floors of Halifax bank in Harrogate into flats.
Hornbeam Park Developments has tabled the plan to North Yorkshire Council for the bank on Oxford Street.
The proposal would see the upper floors of the site converted into seven flats. However the ground floor and basement of the building would remain commercial.
A mixture of one-bedroom and two-bedroom properties would be created as part of the plan.
According to planning documents, cycle storage would be provided on the ground floor.
The developer said the move to create the flats would help with housing need in the Harrogate area.
It said:
The proposal will help support the creation of much-needed housing, giving the high street a new lease of life, while still retaining part of its retail character.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on the plan at a later date.
