A woman found dead in Harrogate last week was a 30-year-old horse rider celebrating her first wedding anniversary.

Abigail Garside's body was discovered at 6.15am in Montpellier Gardens on Monday, August 18, as reported here.

Ms Garside had posted pictures celebrating her wedding anniversary at Rudding Park the day before.

In a social media post on August 17, she said: “Lovely day in Harrogate celebrating our first wedding anniversary with my love."

But a day later her husband, Sam Garside, posted:

My absolute world, my best friend and my beautiful darling wife, I will love you for ever and you will never leave my heart xxx

Police erected a tent when her body was found.

North Yorkshire Police has said it does not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Hundreds of people have expressed their condolences and paid tribute to Ms Garside, who lived in Blackburn.

One person said on social media: "I’ve never seen a happier couple more in love."

Ribble Valley Riding Club, which Ms Garside was a member of for over 20 years, said: "Abigail will be sadly missed by everyone in the horse world. Sending all our love to the family at this very sad time."

A tribute page, which is raising funds for the charities Mind and Dogs Trust, has generated more than £1,000 so far.

An inquest into her death is due to open in Northallerton on September 11.

A North Yorkshire Police statement said on the day the body was found:

Shortly after 6.15am today (Monday 18 August) we received a report that a woman’s body had been discovered in the gardens on Montpellier Hill in Harrogate.

A cordon including screening was put in place to allow the investigation into the circumstances to take place.

At this stage, we do not currently believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.

The force declined to provide any further details today.
