Knaresborough locals will raise a glass to Tinsel Town’s official release tonight (December 5).

The Sky and Future Artists Entertainment film, which was partly shot in Knaresborough, is now available to stream on Sky Cinema and NOW.

To celebrate the town’s stardom, free screenings of Tinsel Town will be held at various pubs across Knaresborough tonight. It will be shown at:

- The Hart

- The George and Dragon

- The Groves Inn

- The Market Tavern

- Knaresborough Cricket Club

It begins a big weekend of Christmas activities in Knaresborough, which includes the Christmas market on Saturday and Sunday and the Christmas tree festival at St John the Baptist Church.

Tonight's screenings are backed by Knaresborough and District Chamber, York and North Yorkshire Mayoral High Street Fund and Eventure Knaresborough, a town-wide partnership to enhance the town's event offering.

The screenings will be the first Eventure Knaresborough event after the partnership was announced in October.

Food will also be served on a first come, first served basis. Ahead of tonight's screenings, Knaresborough and District Chamber said:

Individual food boxes will be free for all who can get their hands on them. [They will include a] locally sourced and locally produced turkey sandwich, pigs in blankets, pork pies [and] chocolate coins. Vegetarian boxes [will also be] available.

Tinsel Town will be shown at each pub at 8pm. Tickets are not required.

Kelly Teggin, a member of Knaresborough and District Chamber, today told the Stray Ferret: "We're really excited about tonight. We saw it being filmed and it will just be great to see it on the big screen".

What is Tinsel Town?

Hollywood descended on Knaresborough for around two weeks in February as filming for Tinsel Town took place.

The film tells the story of American actor Bradley Mack (Kiefer Sutherland), whose career is spiralling.

With little other option, his long-suffering agent lands him a theatrical role in England. Only, it’s a small town’s production of Cinderella.

It is there Bradley is thrown into the weird and wonderful world of British pantomime.

The Stray Ferret attended the world premiere of Tinsel Town in London last week, which you read all about here and here.
