Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was seriously injured in a knife attack near Ripon last night (December 4).
Paramedics in Melmerby called for police assistance at 11.39pm following a disturbance in which a man in his 40s was wounded in the neck.
He was taken to hospital where he remains at this time.
A North Yorkshire Police statement today said:
Two men, one aged in his 40s and one in his 50s, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in police custody at the time of writing.
It is believed all parties involved are known to each other.
Anyone who was in the village late on Thursday evening and witnessed a disturbance outside of the George and Dragon Inn who has not yet spoken to the police, is asked to contact us on 101 and pass information for reference number 12250228569.

The statement said police will remain in the village today for the investigation.
