A Harrogate man has been accused of controlling or coercive behaviour.
William Jauncey, of Crossways Drive, appeared at Harrogate Magistrates Court on Thursday (February 19) charged with one count of assault causing actual bodily harm and one count of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship.
He gave no indication of plea to both charges.
Mr Jauncey is accused of repeatedly or continuously engaging in behaviour which was controlling or coercive towards a former partner.
It is alleged he was violent towards the woman, monitored her online presence, used derogatory language towards her and damaged her belongings.
This allegedly occurred over a six-and-a-half-year period.
The 45-year-old defendant is also accused of assaulting the woman, causing her actual bodily harm, in November 2023.
Mr Jauncey elected his case be heard at a crown court.
The case was transferred to York Crown Court, where the defendant is due to appear on March 23.
