Police update after body found in Ripon Canal
Police say the family of a man whose body was found in Ripon Canal have been informed.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed in a statement yesterday (September 13) that a body of a man in his 60s was found in the canal.
In an update this afternoon, police said the man's death is "not believed to involve any suspicious circumstances”.
The force added:
The family of the man who was found in Ripon canal on Sunday morning have now been informed.
The death is not believed to involve any suspicious circumstances, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Emergency services were called to Boroughbridge Road in the city at 8.41am on Sunday morning following a report from a member of the public who had discovered a body.
Boroughbridge Road was closed for most of the morning while emergency services and investigators carried out their work, but it has since reopened.
