A dessert shop is set to open on Harrogate’s Cold Bath Road next month.
The Pudding Lab will open in the former Lighthouse unit which closed in June after its owners retired.
The Pudding Lab already have a patisserie in Boston Spa, near Wetherby, which opened in 2021.
It is owned by chef duo Ashley Close and Kian Lian. The cafe will serve North Star coffee alongside handmade cakes, eclairs, macarons and afternoon tea.
The unit has undergone a £50,000 renovation and is planned to open in the first week of September.
The patisserie is set to open seven days a week and employ around five new staff members including a full-time barista.
Some of the handmade produce will be made in Harrogate.
Kian Lian said:
Harrogate is a perfect area for us, we wanted to be near Valley Gardens and Cold Bath Road suits our brand. We are quite high end so will suit the area.
It is the perfect time to grow our brand, we are busy and in a good financial position, so we wanted to branch out.
We are really confident Cold Bath Road is a great place with lots of independents and we can all complement each other.

The Pudding Lab has appeared on Bake Off: The Professionals and was shortlisted for two Oliver Awards this year.
The patisserie is set to have a soft launch during the first week of September before opening full time on Monday 9.
Mr Lian added:
We are really passionate about what we do. We offer something no one else is offering, we are a modern patisserie and will bring something different to Harrogate.
