About 2,000 litres of vegetable oil was lost when a shed caught fire in Spofforth last night (January 11).
Firefighters from Harrogate and Knaresborough were called to reports of a barn fire in the village at 8.25pm.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report said:
“On arrival, this was found to be a timber-constructed shed that contained approximately 2,000 litres of vegetable oil and a 47kg cylinder of propane.
“The shed was well alight on arrival of crews. Due to difficulty accessing, crews stood by at a safe distance and allowed fire to burn itself out under supervision.”
