The contents of a barn in Ripon were destroyed yesterday (March 12) when fire ripped through the building.
Firefighters from Harrogate, Ripon, and Tadcaster responded to the blaze on Knaresborough Road at 12.48pm.
According to a statement today by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, fire spread from nearby controlled burning.
The statement added:
"The farmer assisted crews with machinery in dragging out the contents of the barn. There’s no reports of injuries. We are still in attendance this morning continuing to dampen down."
The contents of the barn suffered "100% fire damage"; the metal barn suffered "50% damage", according to the statement.
