Emergency services were at the scene of a serious collision on York Place in Harrogate this afternoon after a car went on to the train line. The Stray Ferret was at the scene and has monitored developments. Here's what happened.

The incident is ongoing, but our reporter at the scene says the situation is claming down. A strong police presence remains.

4.51pm: Road partially reopens
York Place has reopened to traffic turning left at the end of Station Parade. Vehicles are still unable to turn right, where numerous police cordons are in place. One air ambulance has left the scene but another remains on the Stray.
Forensic police officers are at the scene.

North Yorkshire Police said on social media at 3.50pm that a road closure was in place and motorists were urged to avoid the area. It added the road was expected to be closed for "some time".
The air ambulance is present.
All trains from Harrogate to Leeds are currently cancelled.
