This story has been updated following new information from the police.

Emergency services found a body in the River Nidd last night (April 22).

North Yorkshire Police today told the Stray Ferret officers responded to a report of a body in the water, in the Bilton area of Harrogate, at around 8.15pm.

Police attended and located the body of a man.

A spokesperson said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service also said firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 8.30pm.

They had been told a person was in the water around the viaduct.

When the firefighters arrived, police officers had brought the body to the riverbank and the incident was left in the hands of the police and a mountain rescue team.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service confirmed the helicopter was called to an incident at 8.26pm last night, but added "the patient was not required to be airlifted".
