North Yorkshire Police has begun an investigation into a fire in the centre of Ripon this afternoon (January 2).
Police were called by firefighters at 2.36pm this afternoon to assist following a blaze at an unoccupied building on North Street.
A police statement added:
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire which is now under control. There are no reports of anyone coming to harm."
Officers urged anyone with information to get in touch, quoting incident NYP-02012026-0214.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has not yet confirmed any details.
North Street was closed from Market Place West. A one-way system was put in place around the Marshall Way car park during the incident.
