Former footballer Chris Kamara launched a new lager at a Knaresborough pub last weekend.
Kamara, who played for Leeds United, Sheffield United and Bradford City, was pictured pouring a cold pint at The Mitre on Sunday (June 23).
The former Bradford and Stoke manager partnered with Brew York, which recently acquired The Mitre, to launch the drink to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
The lager, called Kammy’s Un-Beer-Lievable, was timed to go on sale during Euro 2024.
The Mitre took to social media to share the news, as well as a smiley photo of Kamara, adding it was “an honour” to have the pundit at the pub.
In a press release issued by Brew York, Kamara said “it’s unbelievable” to have his own lager.
He added:
Thankfully I didn’t brew it, Brew York did.
Let’s enjoy it responsibly during this summer of football and raise some money for Prostate Cancer UK at the same time.
Luke Dundon, bar operations manager at Brew York, today told the Stray Ferret Kamara was "so lovely":
He's exactly how you'd expect him to be — just so lovely.
It's like royalty walking in when he enters a room. Everyone just recognises him - he's a bit of a national treasure, isn't he?
He's got time for everyone too.
Chris Jarrett, director of fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said the money raised from the lager will fund “ground-breaking research towards a screening plan”.
This will help catch cancer early and save lives, he added.
One in eight men are affected by prostate cancer, which is now the most common form of cancer in men.
Kammy's Un-Beer-Lievable lager will be on tap at The Mitre until the end of the Euro 2024 tournament on July 14.
